Modern Garden Wedding at Community House Winnetka
There is something effortlessly beautiful about a space that allows both structure and softness to exist together. This wedding at Winnetka Community House was exactly that. A seamless blend of outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, designed with intention, restraint, and just the right amount of contrast.
The vision was clear from the beginning. Modern, minimal, timeless. A palette grounded in white and green, with small but intentional moments of burgundy and brown to add depth without overwhelming the space.
Winnetka Community House offers a unique balance that is hard to find. The garden patio creates a natural, intimate setting for ceremonies, while the indoor reception space allows for a smooth transition without losing the overall atmosphere of the day.
The ability to move from outdoors into a clean, neutral interior made it the perfect setting for a design that focused on restraint and detail. It allowed every element, from florals to textures, to feel intentional rather than excessive.
The Ceremony: A Custom Fabric Installation
This ceremony marked our first custom fabric installation, and it felt like the right moment to explore something new.
The bride had a clear vision, and it immediately made sense within the context of the garden. Soft draping created a sculptural backdrop that felt both architectural and organic. It didn’t compete with the surroundings. It elevated them.
We paired the installation with modern floral groupings using calla lilies, a meaningful choice for both the bride and her mother. The florals were intentionally minimal. Clean lines, negative space, and thoughtful placement allowed each stem to stand on its own.
Touches of burgundy were introduced quietly, adding depth without disrupting the calm, neutral foundation.
For the reception, we kept the same foundation of white and green, but introduced contrast in a more tactile way.
Instead of bringing in color through florals, we used fruit styling to create depth. Clusters of grapes and subtle burgundy tones added richness without shifting the overall palette. It felt grounded, slightly unexpected, and aligned with the clean aesthetic of the day.
The tablescapes remained minimal, allowing space between elements. Every piece, from the florals to the styling details, was placed with intention to create flow across the table rather than visual clutter.
A Study in Balance
This design was really about balance.
Soft fabric against structured architecture. Delicate flowers against grounded tones. Minimalism without feeling stark.
Everything worked together to create a wedding that felt calm, elevated, and deeply considered.
